FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How we work, what we offer, and what to expect.

What does Capacity actually do?
We're a consulting and software company for the live entertainment industry. We promote tours on behalf of artists and their teams, consult on strategy and operations for promoters and venues, and build software — Mogul and Velvet — for problems we kept solving by hand.
Who do you typically work with?
Managers, agents, promoters, venues, and ancillary businesses in live entertainment. Our clients tend to be people who have a clear vision and need expert-level execution — whether that's putting together a tour, fixing an operational problem, or finding better tools.
How is Capacity different from a traditional promoter?
We answer to the artist and their team. We don't own venues, we don't have a ticketing platform to feed, and we don't have corporate priorities competing with the tour's success. When you hire us, we're yours.
What does "fractional executive" mean?
It means we join your team part-time — you get senior-level thinking on strategy, operations, and the business of touring without a full-time salary. Some clients need a few hours a week, others need more during peak periods. We scale to the project.
What is Mogul?
Mogul is our tour and show management platform for promoters. It tracks offers, holds, ticket counts, expenses, settlements, and marketing in one place — replacing the spreadsheets that were never meant to talk to each other. It's currently in beta.
What is Velvet?
Velvet is a fan engagement platform for touring artists. It collects registrations, shows where demand lives on a map, and sends presale codes when you're ready. Heat maps help route tours before tickets go on sale. It's live now at getvelvet.live.
Do I need to use your software to work with you?
No. The consulting and the software are separate. Some clients want the expertise, some want the products, and often it's both — but there's no requirement to bundle them.
How do engagements typically start?
With a conversation. We'll talk about what you're working on, what you need, and whether we're the right fit. If we are, we'll scope the work and get started. If we're not, we'll tell you that too.
What size tours do you work on?
We've worked on tours ranging from emerging artists testing markets to arena and stadium runs grossing tens of millions. The common thread isn't size — it's clients who value clear thinking and clean execution.
How big is the Capacity team?
Small by design. John Harper leads every engagement, and we bring in trusted specialists — people we've worked with for years — when the project needs specific expertise in marketing, ticketing, production, legal, or sponsorship. Each team is built around the project.
Where are you based?
We're based in the United States, but live entertainment is a travel business. We work wherever the tours take us.
